David Simmons

Community Coordinator - Chicago, IL

Amplifying the voices of young people and empowering them to make positive change in their community is so important. For those reasons, Dave is thrilled to be an advisor for the National Youth Bike Council. After working for nearly 25 years in educational publishing, Dave chose to focus on more rewarding work in the non-profit field. He became Executive Director of Ride Illinois, a non-profit bike advocacy organization, in fall of 2019. The organization’s mission is to make Illinois better through biking. In his current role, Dave enjoys making meaningful connections, centered on the humble bicycle, with people from all walks of life. Building community and developing partnerships can take time, but the end result is often fulfilling and impactful. Personal interests include spending quality time with his son and daughter, habitat restoration, a good book, and the challenge of getting places by bike.
